The 20th Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference, Helsinki, 28-30 August 2011
The 20th – Anniversary – Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference was assembled in the Eduskunta, the Parliament of Finland, on 28 – 30 August 2011 under the theme Green Growth for a Bluer Baltic Sea. Some 200 politicians, experts and officials took part in the Conference, which addressed issues such as Cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region, Integrated Maritime Policy, Civil Safety and Security, and Green Growth and Energy Efficiency. The 20th BSPC also took a retrospective look at the achievments of the past 20 years, and a look ahead on the challenges to come.
The Conference was concluded by the unanimous adoption of a resolution, which is a political tool for directing joint political standpoints and recommendations to the governments of the Baltic Sea Region, the CBSS and the European Union. The Resolution and presentations during the Conference are published on the right-hand side.
The Conference appointed Valentina Pivnenko, Russia, as Chairman and Laine Randjärv, Estonia, as Vice Chairman for the BSPC in 2011-2012.
The 21st BSPC will be convened in St Petersburg, Russia, on 26-28 August 2012.
