The 25th BSPC unanimously appointed Ms Carola Veit, President of the Parliament of the German state of Hamburg, as President of the BSPC 2016-2017. Carola Veit studied law at Hamburg University. After her legal traineeship at the Hamburg Higher Regional Court she achieved the Second Legal State Exam. Having joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany in 1991 she became member of the Hamburg Parliament in March 2004. In 2011 she was elected President of the Hamburg Parliament for the first time and then re-elected in 2015. Amongst others she is Chairwoman of the Hamburg Parliamentary Committee on the Constitution. Ms Veit has been Vice President of the Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference since 2015. She is a mother with three children.
